BANJA LUKA, MAY 21 /SRNA/ - Longtime president of the Banja Luka Association of WWII Camp Inmates Dobrila Kukolj was buried today at the Sveti Pantelija cemetery in Banja Luka in the presence of family members, representatives of the Association and numerous admirers.
Prior to the funeral, a commemoration marking her passing was held at the Banski Dvor Cultural Center, attended by the highest officials of Republika Srpska.
Kukolj was an inmate of the Ustasha Jasenovac concentration camp and longtime president of the Banja Luka Association of WWII Camp Inmates.
As a ten-year-old girl, she was taken to the Ustasha-run Jasenovac camp, where she was imprisoned for three months. The Ustasha destroyed her childhood, life and family.
Throughout her life, she tirelessly spoke about the suffering of the Serb people and, while her health allowed, visited the Jasenovac Monastery and the Donja Gradina Memorial Area.
Dobrila Kukolj passed away yesterday in Banja Luka at the age of 94.
