BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 18 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović said at the special session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska dedicated to the appointment of an acting president that both Sarajevo and the opposition would rejoice if she were to leave her position in Sarajevo.
"The decision regarding the candidate for acting president was made in agreement with President Milorad Dodik. We are doing this in the interest of peace and stability in Republika Srpska," Cvijanović said.
She emphasized that there is nothing controversial in the proposal to appoint Ana Trišić Babić to the position and that it contains everything required.
"It is clear to everyone that this mandate belongs to Milorad Dodik and the SNSD," Cvijanović stated.
She added that everyone raising objections should know that Christian Schmidt had no authority to enact laws, nor could the Court act upon them.
"This is not a capitulation - it is about maintaining stability," Cvijanović underlined.
She pointed out that many things in the country have happened due to the interference of foreigners, but that this particular foreigner has gone much further.
"Some foreign officials at least had a bit of dignity - laws were then passed in parliaments. Christian Schmidt has abused the judiciary and is using it to target representatives of the people. What he has done should have no place in the legal system, as it lacks any verification from the domestic parliament," Cvijanović said.
She added that it is unacceptable for court proceedings to cite the opinions of the OHR instead of domestic legislation.
