BANJA LUKA, JANUARY 18 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović said that the Republika Srpska institutions are stable and are the guarantee of its survival, emphasizing that she supports the election of a new government that will respond to the current political moment.

"The prime minister will have the opportunity to choose and change ministers in the upcoming period. The government has worked responsibly in the past period and is preparing for the challenges ahead. This government, headed by Savo Minić, is preparing for a different time than before," Cvijanović said at a special session of the National Assembly regarding the election of a new government.

She noted that the Constitution does not state that any foreigner has the right to make laws, and sent a message to the opposition that Christian Schmidt and his predecessors used that right.

"How do you know that this government is unconstitutional and illegal? How do you know that it will be? This reminds me of a time when some said you were part of Schmidt's coalition," Cvijanović emphasized.

She also commented on the reform agenda, which the opposition had called for but stated that it was not an assumed obligation.

Cvijanović points out that the opposition is preparing in Sarajevo to vote on certain solutions.

"Your minister was the Minister of Defence when signs `Ministry of Defence of Republika Srpska,`" were removed Cvijanović told opposition members.

She emphasized that the government is legal, but the opposition may have different information and desires.

"This is a time for a new beginning, and it will be a new beginning. You complain because pensioners received two pensions last month, which was their wish. I don't understand what kind of policy you're pursuing," Cvijanović told the opposition.

She pointed out that the opposition clearly would not mind if the Republika Srpska Vice President Ćamil Duraković proposed the prime minister and decided on Republika Srpska political life.

"Don't lecture anyone! We have an agreement with the citizens of Republika Srpska and all associations," Cvijanović stressed.

She added that the global political scene is turbulent and that, accordingly, the policies of Republika Srpska should be adjusted.
