CVIJANOVIĆ: BOLJANIĆ WILL BE MONUMENT TO UNITY OF SERBIAN PEOPLE AND ALLIES

DOBOJ, SEPTEMBER 21 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, stated that the institutions of Republika Srpska, the Doboj City Administration, and the Halyard Foundation will jointly ensure that Boljanić becomes a site of lasting remembrance for the operation in which downed Allied pilots were rescued from a local, improvised airfield 81 years ago.

Cvijanović said that Boljanić will stand as a monument to unity and the courageous operation that brought together Allied soldiers and the Serb people, who risked their lives to save them during the Second World War.

“We are grateful to the members of the Halyard Foundation, who, together with the authorities of Republika Srpska, expressed the wish a few years ago for us to gather here and pay tribute to everyone who took part in the Halyard operation, both the army and our local people, the Serbs, who rescued, cared for, clothed, and sought ways to save the downed pilots,” Cvijanović told reporters.

She emphasized that the commemoration of the rescue of the Allied pilots in Boljanić stands as an example of unity.

“This shows that throughout history we have been on the right side and have fought for the values of freedom and unity, against everything that threatened to destroy humanity,” Cvijanović added.

Today, Boljanić near Doboj marks the 81st anniversary of the rescue of Allied pilots from Mount Ozren during the Halyard operation, carried out by members of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland.
