BANJA LUKA, MAY 16 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Interior Minister Željko Budimir said that the Republika Srpska Police is the most prepared police agency in BiH, and that the MUP workers' sports games "Policijada" are an opportunity to demonstrate that.
Budimir, who today opened this year's two-day "Policijada" in Zalužani near Banja Luka, said that it is a place for healthy and competitive sporting activities among members of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"We have one of the best police agencies in the region, and that is the result of constant work, intensive investment in equipment, as well as training so that we can provide better security protection for our citizens," Budimir told reporters.
He added that in the coming period, intensive work will continue on organizing the Republika Srpska MUP in order to provide an adequate response to the security challenges of modern society.
Deputy President of the Republika Srpska Interior Workers' Union Davor Stupar said that this year's "Policijada" gathered around 700 participants, which is a record number, moving this event into the category of a serious competition.
"This is an indicator of the progress of the MUP, but also of the Interior Workers' Union, because sports gatherings of employees are very important for union activity since in this way we achieve solidarity and unity among workers," Stupar stated.
Head of the MUP Police Education Administration Mile Šikman said that during the two days of competition, "Policijada" participants will compete for the best rankings in six disciplines.
"Twenty-six organizational units of the Republika Srpska MUP are competing, divided into 126 individual teams, and we told them to compete fairly on the field, but also to show unity and strength," Šikman emphasized.
