PALE, MAY 21 /SRNA/ – The Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republika Srpska Željko Budimir said today in Pale that Republika Srpska is proud of the students who have graduated and of their efforts, with the support of their homeland.
"Your homeland helped you complete your studies, offering many forms of support during your education. We know that every full-time student did not have to pay any tuition. That is why Republika Srpska hopes that you will stay here and work," Budimir said in his address at the formal academic ceremony marking the Day and Patron Saint of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of East Sarajevo – Saint John the Theologian.
He urged the youth that even if they leave, they should strive to return to Republika Srpska, because, as he said, they may find many countries, but they will not find another homeland.
"For your homeland, you make efforts even when things are difficult. Do not look only to your personal interests, but also to those of your homeland. In the homeland, geography meets history, and that is why it is important to understand that your homeland is asking you to fight for it. Long live Republika Srpska!" Budimir declared.
At the formal ceremony held in the amphitheater of the Faculty of Economics, which was also attended by Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Radovan Višković, awards and diplomas were presented to 139 students from the first and second cycles of study.
Earlier in the day, a liturgy was served in the Church of the Assembly of the Holy Archangel Gabriel in Pale.
The breaking of the patron saint’s bread is scheduled for 1:00 PM in the dean’s office of the Faculty of Philosophy in Pale.
The event "Days of the Faculty of Philosophy," which began on May 13 with a series of activities in celebration of the faculty's day and its patron saint, will conclude tomorrow with a lecture titled "The Philosophy of Cosmism and the Russian Avant-garde" by Professor Kornelija Ičin, at 12:00 noon in the amphitheater of the Faculty of Philosophy in Pale.
