BANJA LUKA, MAY 22 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republika Srpska, Željko Budimir, said that the International Conference on Cooperation with BRICS, which opened on Thursday evening in Banja Luka, will help Republika Srpska and its public to understand the importance of BRICS in the new international order.
Budimir emphasized that the International Conference titled "Opportunities for Cooperation with BRICS Plus: The Russian Experience and the Serbian Vision" is examining the significance of BRICS as a new movement shaping a multipolar order in the international system.
“It is important that we talk about this in Republika Srpska. The conference features very prominent participants. I expect that these presentations will clarify for our public the issue and significance of BRICS in the new international order of the coming era,” Budimir told reporters in Banja Luka before the opening of the conference.
The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH, Igor Kalabukhov, said that the world is at a turning point and that several directions must be taken.
“They tell us that history has ended, but that is not true. There are alternatives, and one of them is BRICS. This alternative implies real sovereignty and genuine protection of national interests,” said Kalabukhov.
The president of the literary association "Susret" from Trebinje, Milana Babić, said that the association organized the conference to explore alternatives for Republika Srpska, namely, the BRICS Plus initiative and the possibilities for cooperation.
“We included both Serbia and Republika Srpska and created an opportunity to open a platform for broader discussions at the Balkan level. We also established contacts with people seriously engaged with BRICS from Brazil, China, and Russia,” Babić said.
