BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 31 /SRNA/ – The book Yoni’s Last Battle: The Rescue Operation at Entebbe, 1976, by Iddo Netanyahu, reflects a strong historical experience and awareness, as well as the actions of a community in difficult and uncertain circumstances, it was stressed at the book promotion in Banja Luka.

Historian at the Republika Srpska Social - Political Research Centre Predrag Lozo says the book tells of the determination of a collective to respond in extremely difficult and challenging circumstances, as well as of an entire doctrine of defending its citizens anywhere in the world.

"We are talking about a fascinating operation that took place 4,000 kilometers from Israel, when the State of Israel decided to send its special forces to save the life of every hostage in danger," Lozo told the press at the book promotion.

He adds the book addresses personal and individual responsibility, as well as what is known as responding to a challenging environment.

"It speaks of the return of historical images and awareness, and of what an individual can do for the state they come from, but also what the state can do for the individual," Lozo said.

Director of the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska Miloš Lukić says the book is a testimony to one of the most successful military operations in history, which, after being successfully carried out, shaped and defined many subsequent operations.

"We published the book in Serbian to mark the 50th anniversary of this operation," Lukić said.

The book’s author, Iddo Netanyahu, says the book recounts a military operation that took place 50 years ago and in which his brother Yoni took part.

"He led his unit and was the only one who was killed," Netanyahu said.

He expressed hope that readers would enjoy the book and have an opportunity to learn something from it.

The promotion is being attended by Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan, Acting Director of the International Cooperation Office Ana Trišić-Babić, Director of the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska Miloš Lukić, Republika Srpska Government ministers, and numerous representatives of the political, social and cultural life of Srpska.

The promotion is organised by the Republika Srpska Social - Political Research Centre and the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska.
