EAST SARAJEVO, MAY 16 /SRNA/ – SDS representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Darko Babalj, is showing through his actions that he has completely lost control of himself, and I am ashamed that someone so evidently immature both as a man and as a politician is my fellow citizen, said Mayor of East Sarajevo Ljubiša Ćosić in a statement to SRNA.
Ćosić emphasized that Babalj’s political wandering and destruction of his own reputation come at a time when Republika Srpska is going through one of its most important and sensitive periods since the end of the Defensive-Patriotic War.
“People in East Sarajevo often say that Babalj proved to be a capable fighter during the war, but that he is remembered even more for his ‘love’ of other people’s artworks. It seems that this instinct has resurfaced—only now he wants to ‘steal’ a position of power from those who earned it through the votes of the people,” Ćosić said.
He believes that Babalj’s behavior, which continuously causes division among the Serb people and weakens their political position, can be described as nothing short of a direct betrayal of the interests of Republika Srpska.
“Time will judge him and everyone who supports such conduct. But more importantly, history and future generations will judge him—and they will not forget who turned their back on their people in the most difficult moments,” Ćosić said.
Babalj reportedly caused a serious incident yesterday during a break in the House of Representatives by shouting insults at SNSD MPs Milorad Kojić and Sanja Vulić.
