BELGRADE, OCTOBER 12 /SRNA/ – Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić has said tonight that he does not rule out the possibility of the Russians holding talks with the Americans about selling their ownership stake in the Oil Industry of Serbia /NIS/.
Vučić said he believed that the Russians had reached an agreement with Hungary’s MOL on key issues related to the acquisition of a majority stake in NIS, with only a few details remaining to be settled. However, he added that he could not rule out the option of a sale to the Americans following the agreement between Moscow and Washington on supplying Russian diesel fuel to the US market.
“I would not rule out potential talks with the Americans if the diesel arrangement works well for them. I would not even rule out the possibility of the Russians selling their ownership stake to the Americans. It is not certain, but I would not rule it out,” Vučić told RT Balkan.
He said he believed that US President Donald Trump had not reached an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin solely because of diesel fuel, as the quantities involved were not particularly large.
“Trump knows that China is his main rival, and he will try to find a clever way to separate Russia from China and gradually bring it closer to the United States,” Vučić said.
