PATRIARCH PORFIRIJE RECEIVES PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS FROM SRPSKA AT CHURCH OF ST. SAVA

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 16 /SRNA/ - His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije received today at the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade 56 pupils from Trebinje, Bileća, Gacko, Nevesinje and Berkovići who are visiting Serbia as part of the observance of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day.

The pupils were also welcomed at the church by Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans' and Social Affairs in the technical mandate Milica Đurđević-Stamenkovski.

They arrived at the church carrying Serbian flags, as well as a flag bearing an icon of Saint Demetrius, Tanjug reported.

The visit provides an opportunity for seventh and eighth-grade pupils from Herzegovina to learn about Serbia and its cultural and spiritual heritage and, on the occasion of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day, to further experience the significance of the ties connecting the Serb people on both sides of the Drina River.
