BELGRADE, APRIL 13 /SRNA/ - Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić says that the central pan-national rally in Belgrade "We Will Not Give Serbia Away" was magnificent not only in terms of number of people gathered there, but also in terms of energy, where the most beautiful message on the need for Serbs’ unity was sent from.
"In difficult times, when the pressures are terrifying and the attacks on the streets are numerous, people wanted to say - it is not easy for us, but we must not be afraid and we want to preserve our homeland, our land and not let anyone destroy our state," Vučić emphasized at today's press conference.
He once again thanked the people who attended last night's rally, which, as he stated, was mostly attended by Belgraders, but also Serbs from other parts of Serbia, as well as the region.
"The message from the rally was the most beautiful – we need you all, we need a united Serbia," said Vučić.
In response to the opposition's comments that last night's rally was a fiasco, Vučić said that it was a significantly larger rally than the one of the students blocking the streets and the opposition on March 15, which he is ready to prove with photoes and numbers.
He reiterated that the participants in the pan-national rally will not give up on their demand to restore order and peace in the country and return students to universities, and that the state will do its job, so the thugs and bullies will be brought to justice.
Today, Vučić also presented several thousand signed application forms for his Movement for the People and the State, letters that citizens sent him during the past three days of this rally with suggestions and comments.
He also said that he believes that a new government will be elected next week, and added that he will have very important visits coming up at the beginning of May, that he will go to Moscow and possibly to the USA.
Commenting on the flags and messages that appeared at the student blockade and opposition rally yesterday in Novi Pazar, Vučić said that he was not bothered by the Bosniak flags, but by the messages concerning the special status of the autonomies /Sandžak/ and /wartime commander of Muslim forces in Srebrenica/ Naser Orić, and that he was sorry that the student did not mind.
"We have to work on Bosniaks - Serbs relations," Vučić said.
