PRIZREN, MAY 24 /SRNA/ – The Raška-Prizren Diocese has called on international representatives in Kosovo and Metohija to stop the escalation of provocations and the use of excessive force against Serbs, especially in the northern part of the province, following an attack by the so-called Kosovo police in North Kosovska Mitrovica.
The Diocese expressed concern and emphasized that all of this could lead to a serious deterioration of the security situation.
Condemning the selective and excessive use of force by the so-called Kosovo police against a minor from a group of Serb high school graduates who were celebrating the end of the school year on the main promenade, the Diocese pointed out that the police did not respond to provocations by Kosovo Albanians on the same promenade.
"The Serb people view this incident, along with a series of other recent incidents, as a continuation of systematic pressure on Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija," the statement published on the Diocese’s website reads.
A video posted on social media yesterday shows members of the so-called Kosovo police in North Kosovska Mitrovica harassing a Serb graduate, pushing him, provoking him, and grabbing him by the neck.
