BELGRADE, APRIL 15 /SRNA/ – General Ratko Mladić suffered a mild stroke and is now in a very serious condition, his son Darko Mladić told SRNA.
According to him, he expects to receive documentation from the tribunal's medical service in The Hague to determine exactly what happened on Friday, April 10.
"The general was transferred to the hospital and then returned the same day to the detention unit. He most likely had a mild stroke," Mladić's son said.
He explained that the general was taken for examinations on Friday, but that no documentation has yet been received.
"They promised to send us those documents. Apart from a verbal conversation with the doctor, we have received nothing. We are waiting for medical examination findings carried out that same day, but we still have not received anything," he said.
He added that his father is in a very serious condition, noting that he can no longer even be placed in a wheelchair.
"He communicates poorly and his condition is very concerning," he said.
General Mladić has previously suffered multiple strokes and has serious cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, neurological damage, and kidney problems.
He has been hospitalized multiple times and has undergone various medical and therapeutic procedures, including surgical interventions on his heart and leg.
Since 2024, he has been held in the detention hospital in The Hague.
