GENERAL MLADIĆ IS GETTING WEAKER, SITUATION IS PRETTY BAD

BELGRADE, APRIL 9 /SRNA/ - General Ratko Mladić, who is in the detention hospital at the Hague Tribunal, is getting weaker and weaker, and the situation is quite bad, his son Darko Mladić told SRNA.

He stated that the general has heart and kidney problems all the time, as well as neurological problems since he has been lying down for a year.

"It's getting worse now. He's in bed non-stop and in the conditions he's in he can't get adequate care and rehabilitation. The situation is pretty bad," Darko assessed and added that the general still has problems with bedsores from lying down.

He stated that the general speaks very poorly, that he can barely last 15 minutes of conversation.

Darko expects that General Mladić will soon be visited by a Serbian doctor in the Hague, explaining that he has yet to decide which doctor he needs most.

"The doctor who is the most urgent for him in this situation will go," said Darko Mladić.

The former Commander of the Main Staff of the Republika Srpska Army, General Ratko Mladić, has been in a detention hospital in The Hague since April last year, and due to his poor health, his family and defenders have repeatedly requested for a treatment to be allowed at large, but these requests have been rejected.

General Mladić has neurological, cardiovascular and urological problems, which are progressively getting worse and more complicated.

He was operated on on January 8 last year in a Dutch hospital, when a pacemaker was implanted, and in the meantime his kidneys had failed.

General Mladić, who was the commander of the Main Staff of the Republika Srpska Army, was sentenced to life imprisonment in June 2021 for alleged crimes in BiH.
