ĐOKOVIĆ VERDICT EXPOSES LEGAL VIOLENCE IN PRIŠTINA

BELGRADE, OCTOBER 21 /SRNA/ – The first-instance verdict handed down to Milorad Đoković by the judiciary under the authorities of Kosovo self-proclaimed Prime Minister Aljbin Kurti over an alleged war crime lays bare the legal violence of the regime in Priština and the collapse of any semblance of law and justice, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said.

The office said Đoković's only "offense" was that, as a Serb from Metohija, he sought to reclaim his seized property from Albanian squatters, after which he was accused of an alleged war crime without any evidence or credible witnesses.

“This is another example of how Kurti’s judiciary delivers verdicts on purely political and ethnic grounds, under which Serbs are guilty whenever an Albanian points the finger at them for personal reasons or material gain," the office said.

It noted that Đoković had lived in Vitomirica until the March pogrom, when he was expelled and his house was burned down.

He later returned to his hometown and initiated legal proceedings over the usurpation of his property, after which he was accused of an alleged war crime.

Milorad Đoković, from Vitomirica near Peć, was sentenced at first instance to 10 years in prison by the Basic Court in Priština for an alleged war crime committed in Kosovo and Metohija in 1999.

He was arrested in June 2022 and has been in detention ever since.
