BELGRADE, APRIL 4 /SRNA/ - Director of Serbia's parliamentary Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković, says that Hungary understands how important the Serb Christian heritage in Kosovo and Metohija is for the Christian character of Europe.
At the opening of the Gračanica in Budapest event, Petković emphasized that the Serb cultural and spiritual treasure of Kosovo and Gračanica, with its richness, duration, beauty and meaning, transcends not only temporal but also spatial boundaries.
He thanked Hungary and its leadership, headed by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, for their sincere and consistent support of Serbia in recent years, the Office announced.
"Official Belgrade everywhere recognizes and appreciates Hungary's contribution to the development of the policy of cooperation and the building of peace and stability in this part of Europe, as well as the significant encouragement of fostering true family and Christian values, which are another common denominator for us," said Petković.
He has pointed out there are policies that destroy, disintegrate, divide, introduce discord and all kinds of intolerance today in Priština.
"The Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija witness this every day, and neither our children nor the holy places of the Serbian Orthodox Church were spared from the attacks," said Petković.
He has pointed out that Kosovo and Metohija is not only a geographical toponym, but a spiritual vertical of Serb being and identity.
As part of the Gračanica in Budapest event, an appropriate cultural and artistic programme and an open photo exhibition were arranged.
The exhibition shows photographs of Priština, Prizren, Lipjan and Gračanica under the title "Pictures of Life" from the collection of Albert Kahn, a famous French philanthropist from the beginning of the 20th century.
This event, which was held last night in Budapest, was organised by the Diocese of Budim, with the support of the Gračanica Cultural Centre, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, and the Embassy of Serbia in Hungary.
