BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA/ – Seven Belgrade churches will host a large voluntary blood drive on November 15, organized jointly by the Blood Transfusion Institute of Serbia and the Serbian Orthodox Church /SOC/.
Serbian Patriarch Porfirije has called on volunteers to take part.
The drive will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church of St. John Vladimir in Medaković, the Church of St. Sava in Vračar and the Church of St. Simeon the Myrrh-Streaming in New Belgrade.
Donors can also give blood at the Church of St. Mark in Tašmajdan, the Cathedral Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Stari Grad and the Church of St. Bishop Nikolaj of Žiča in Resnik, the SOC said on its website.
For many years, the SOC has been one of the Blood Transfusion Institute's most reliable and dedicated partners in organizing voluntary blood drives.
Through its many parishes and churches across the country, the Church continually encourages the faithful to show love and mercy by helping those who need blood for treatment and to save lives.
The Church noted that Patriarch Porfirije set a particular example through his own participation. He has been a regular blood donor for many years and had repeatedly urged citizens to join such humanitarian drives.
