SREMSKI KARLOVCI, SEPTEMBER 11 /SRNA/ - The 55th edition of the renowned poetry festival Brankovo Kolo, dedicated to Branko Radičević, a prominent figure of Serbian Romanticism, was officially opened at the library in Sremski Karlovci.
The festival, which will run until September 20, began with prominent poet Duško Novaković speaking about the influence of Branko Radičević on his work.
Brankovo Kolo Director Nenad Grujičić stressed that the festival’s mission is not only to preserve the memory of Branko Radičević, but also to actively support new poetic voices.
He stressed that the festival seeks to dispel bureaucratic coldness and provide young authors with genuine institutional support, which is crucial to their development.
“Brankovo Kolo has so far published more than 200 books by young authors, making it one of the most important pillars in promoting a new generation of poets in Serbia. Investing in young talent is precisely the best way to ensure a bright future for Serbian poetry,” Grujičić said.
The festival program continues tomorrow with the traditional visit to Branko Radičević’s grave on Stražilovo. On that occasion, the prestigious Stražilovo awards will also be presented to this year’s laureates, RTV reported.
