ZAGREB, NOVEMBER 4 /SRNA/ – Croatia today deported 36 Egyptian nationals who had been staying in the country illegally, including people who had faced criminal proceedings for people smuggling, the Interior Ministry said.
They were flown from Zagreb to Cairo on a special flight, as this is cheaper and allows a larger number of people to be returned more quickly, the ministry said.
The deportation was carried out under escort by police and officers of the EU border agency Frontex, Croatian media reported.
According to the ministry, Croatia has returned a total of 6,885 people to other countries this year through return and transfer procedures.
