IMAGE OF JESUS CHRIST AND CYRILLIC INSCRIPTION SPRAYED OVER NEAR ZAVIDOVIĆI

ZAVIDOVIĆI, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA/ – An unknown individual/s sprayed over an image of Jesus Christ on a sign directing worshippers towards the road leading to the Vozuća Monastery near Zavidovići.

The Cyrillic inscription "Christ Is Risen" was also defaced, announced the Committee protecting Serbs’ rights in the FBiH.

The Committee stated that the sign is relatively large, but that the section featuring the image of Jesus Christ and the part bearing the Cyrillic inscription had been painted over, clearly indicating a religious motive behind the act.

"It is well known that the monastery is located in this area and that Orthodox Serbs from the region have particular respect for the church and the Vozuća Monastery. This suggests that the perpetrators intended to send a message to the worshippers visiting the monastery," the Committee emphasized.

The Committee called on the Zenica-Doboj Canton Interior Ministry to urgently identify and apprehend those responsible.
