BROĆETA: SERBS SHOULD NURTURE FREEDOM-LOVING SPIRIT AND COMMEMORATE VICTORY DAY

DRVAR, MAY 9 /SRNA/ - Marking 80 years since the victory over fascism, one of the greatest evils in modern human history, must have a special place everywhere the Serbian people live, said Goran Broćeta, a member the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH /FBiH/.

He emphasized that the Serbian people carry within their roots a strong anti-fascist and freedom-loving spirit that must not be forgotten, and that this historic date should be commemorated in every place where Serbs live, especially in the FBiH.

"We must never lose that freedom-loving spirit that adorns our people, because throughout history, thanks to it and our faith, we have emerged victorious from all hardships. We, the current generations, descendants of anti-fascists and true patriots, have the duty to instill this in the consciousness of our offspring, because we are witnesses that the devil never rests," Broćeta told SRNA.

Broćeta, who is also the Head of the Serbian Caucus in the Assembly of Canton 10 /Livno Canton/, emphasized that the Serbian people must never forget the suffering in Jasenovac, Garavice, Prebilovci, and many other places where fascists and their followers attempted to annihilate the Serbian people.

"That is why any attempt to revise historical facts and the truth about the suffering of our people in the 20th century would be disastrous for us. We must remain worthy of our history and safeguard the truth, because today, more than ever, there is an effort to portray injustice as justice," Broćeta said.

Wreaths will be laid tomorrow at the destroyed monument to the victims of fascist terror in Drvar, in commemoration of Victory Day.
