TUZLA, OCTOBER 13 /SRNA/ - The Municipal Court in Tuzla has revoked the detention of a 15-year-old girl from Tuzla, the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton announced today.
The court issued a decision to revoke her detention on October 9 and released the girl the same day.
The Prosecutor's Office is continuing the preparatory proceedings against the girl, who is suspected of attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm in a case involving two pupils from an elementary school in Gornja Tuzla.
The Prosecutor’s Office said it could not provide further information on the subsequent course of the preparatory proceedings outside the regular procedure.
The Police Administration of the Tuzla Canton Ministry of Interior announced on September 4 that the girl, aged 15, had injured two other girls, aged 14, with a bladed weapon. The injured girls received medical assistance at the University Clinical Centre.
At the proposal of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, the Municipal Court in Tuzla ordered one month of detention for the girl on September 7.
Her detention was subsequently extended by another month because the necessary expert assessments were being carried out, with the involvement of the Centre for Social Work and other competent institutions, the Prosecutor’s Office explained.
Federation media reported that the mothers of the injured minors had said that "the attacker had been problematic before and that the injured children were suffering from trauma".
However, sources close to the family of the arrested minor girl claimed the opposite, saying that she had been subjected to peer bullying for two years, allegedly by the same two girls against whom she physically defended herself.
They allegedly called her "you are a Chetnik girl," "you are a Serb" and "you eat pork". The school administration was aware of the situation, but, according to the account, the matter was repeatedly dealt with by assurances that it would not happen again.
