ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 27 /SRNA/ – Konstantin Ryabin from Russia is the winner of this year’s World Accordion Cup, taking first place in the most prestigious category and thus earning the title of world champion in Istočno Sarajevo.

In the junior category, the winner was fifteen-year-old Đorđe Perić from Bijeljina, who emphasized that it was a great honor to achieve victory on home ground.

The competition brought together 95 participants from 34 countries, who competed in seven categories.

The trio Obajanje from Russia won two first places, in the World Music and Chamber Music categories.

The winner of the junior category was Rostislav Goryanski from Russia, while in the senior categories, Lev Solomonovich of Moldova triumphed in the 'Virtuoso' category and Katalin Gusevati of Moldova in the 'Masters' category.

The President of the World Accordion Confederation, Mirko Patarini, who was re-elected to that post during the congress held as part of the event, highlighted the high standard of this year’s competition.

"I rate the level of the competition at 98 points, while the organization, namely the Music Academy of the University of Istočno Sarajevo, I give the full 100 points," said Patarini.

Dean of the Music Academy of the University of Istočno Sarajevo, Maja Žuža, thanked all delegates and the organizing team, stressing that hosting the World Cup was a great experience and an opportunity for the academy to showcase its work on the international stage.

The 78th World Accordion Cup concludes this evening with a winners’ concert, where the best competitors from all categories will perform, presenting the richness of accordion music from around the globe.
