AN EXHIBITION ABOUT THE NOBEL LAUREATE IVO ANDRIĆ OPENED TODAY

SREBRENICA, MARCH 13 /SRNA/ - An exhibition about Ivo Andrić was opened today at the National Library of Srebrenica, featuring information about his life, details from his literary work, and phototypic editions of the original manuscript of the work "Na Drini ćuprija"/The Bridge on the Drina/.

"This exhibition consists of three parts. The first part contains photographs from Andrić's life, the second presents his creative work, and the third showcases his manuscripts, which have been digitized but are still preserved in their original form," said the exhibition's author Maja Dejanović, a documentary filmmaker and senior librarian from Gradiška.

She thanked the high school students from the Secondary School Center who attended the exhibition opening and added that Andrić's works are essential reading during their education, but they should be revisited as they are instructive and unparalleled in many segments.

The president of the Srebrenica "Prosvjeta," Marko Milovanović, stated that Andrić spent one summer vacation at his aunt's in Srebrenica and that certain motifs and themes described in his stories "Put Alije Đerzeleza"/The Road of Alija Đerzelez/ and "Osatičani" are related to that place.

According to him, the exhibition is a way of repaying Andrić, who donated the financial part of the Nobel Prize to libraries in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The exhibition "Ivo Andrić - nobelovac"/Ivo Andrić - Nobel Laureate" is part of the annual activity plan of the National Library of Srebrenica, promoting literature and reading while also highlighting the significance of Andrić's work in a contemporary context, and bringing this writer closer to new generations of readers, it was stated to SRNA in Srebrenica.

Andrić passed away on March 13, 1975, in Belgrade.
