AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION WITH MATICA SRPSKA SIGNED

TREBINJE, MARCH 26 /SRNA/ - The local communities of East Herzegovina signed an agreement on cooperation with Matica Srpska today in Trebinje.

The head of Matica Srpska Dragan Stanić has told reporters that the improvement of scientific and cultural life in the value system of Srpska culture was discussed at the meeting with representatives of Trebinje City and the municipalities of Bileća, Berkovići, Ljubinje, Nevesinje and Gacko.

Stanić has stated that cooperation implies work in the sphere of literature, care for language, science and art, which is the basic domain of Matica Srpska, but that many other things regarding the development programme of all areas where Serbs live can be derived from this.

The head of the Association of Herzegovina Serbs and Friends Novi Sad, Božo Milović, told the press that an agreement was signed at their initiative, formalizing cooperation with Matica Srpska, as well as Herzegovina.

"Matica Srpska can contribute to the work of Herzegovinians, who are well known as poets, scientists, are part of Matica as its members," said Milović.

Trebinje Mayor, Mirko Ćurić, thanked the heads of Matica Srpska and the Association for their contribution to Trebinje and Herzegovina, stressing that the goal is to raise cooperation to a higher level with this agreement.

The Mayor of Nevesinje Milenko Avdalović emphasized that Herzegovina and the people of Herzegovina have done a lot in history for science and culture, the Serbian language, Matica Srpska.
