EAST SARAJEVO, MAY 31 /SRNA/ – Head of the SNSD caucus in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Sanja Vulić, stated that a case against Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, Elmedin Konaković, should have been opened long ago, given the serious allegations that he has been using public funds for private and political interests under the guise of diplomacy.
Commenting on Konaković’s statement that "the chief prosecutor of the unconstitutional BiH Prosecutor’s Office, Milanko Kajganić, is ordering a case to be opened" against him for lobbying, and that this information is “accurate and verified,” Vulić told SRNA that now, as justice approaches him, Konaković is trying to present himself as a victim, though he is in fact one of the most active creators of political persecution in the country.
"His statement that he ‘has contacts in the Prosecutor’s Office’ and that the ‘information is accurate and verified’ is not only scandalous but also a direct admission of political influence over the judiciary. Everything we’ve claimed—that the Bosniak political bloc controls the judiciary in BiH—Konaković has now confirmed in a single sentence," said Vulić.
She questioned how many investigations have been initiated at Konaković’s request and through his political satellites in the judiciary, and how many people have been subjected to pressure, fabricated cases, and threats simply for daring to oppose him.
She stated that Konaković signs suspicious agreements on behalf of BiH, falsely presents himself as the decision-maker for the country, despite lacking the consent of BiH institutions—unless he truly believes he is BiH, which would at least make the situation somewhat psychologically understandable.
Vulić emphasized that Konaković’s behavior is not democratic but rather an attempt at political dictatorship. She added that enough is enough with his manipulations and that the judiciary must investigate Konaković, instead of serving as his political tool.
“Fortunately, he’s only a would-be politician—otherwise, given how carried away he’s become, he would arrest us all just to maintain power,” said Vulić.
She added that “Sky Konaković” with this statement admitted he wants to create an atmosphere of fear and silence in BiH, and would arrest anyone who opposes him just to stay free.
“The first person he would surely arrest is Sebija Izetbegović, as she’s a thorn in his side—and she’s already picked up a broom, just waiting for next year to swing it,” Vulić concluded.
