SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 15 /SRNA/ - The House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly adopted on Wednesday evening the proposals for six European laws.

The proposals for the Trademark Law, Patent Law, and Law on the Protection of Trade Secrets as Intellectual Property Rights were adopted in the first reading, under the shortened procedure.

Also adopted in the first reading under the shortened procedure were the proposals for the Law on the Protection of Topographies of Semiconductor Products, Law on Representation in the Field of Industrial Property Rights, and Law on Measurement Units in BiH.

MPs did not support including in the session agenda the proposal by SDP MP Saša Magazinović, which concerns the election and appointment of BiH’s chief EU negotiator and their deputy.

The proposal did not receive entity majority vote.

During the debate on the agenda, SNSD MPs pointed out that the draft decision on establishing the office of BiH's chief EU negotiator and their deputy violated the Rules of Procedure, as no chamber can create a new institution by decision.

HDZ BiH MP Darjana Filipović said that in previous years, there were discussions between the HDZ, SNSD, and the "Troika" regarding the possible nationality of the chief negotiator, and it was then stated that the person should not be of the same nationality as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers.

There was also no entity majority vote to include on the agenda the draft decision to dismiss Marinko Čavara from the Collegium of the House.
