BEIJING, OCTOBER 13 /SRNA/ – BiH Ambassador to China Siniša Berjan told SRNA that certain international power centers continue to treat BiH as a space for political experimentation, ignoring the reality of its constitutional order and complex internal structure.

In this context, he said, today's visit by BiH's Ambassador to the UN Zlatko Lagumdžija to OHR is particularly problematic.

Berjan assessed that the Bosniak political scene, with the backing of these power centers, is increasingly rejecting the institutional framework defined by the Dayton Peace Accords and promoting the concept of an international protectorate, which contradicts basic democratic principles and sovereignty.

"It would be both constitutional and logical for Lagumdžija to consult all members of the BiH Presidency before his upcoming appearance in New York, as that body is, under the Constitution, solely responsible for conducting the country's foreign policy," Berjan said.

According to him, it is clear that Lagumdžija does not recognize the Presidency as the collective head of state, even though it is the very institution meant to reflect the consensus of the three constituent peoples.

He emphasized that this morning’s meeting at the OHR was aimed at coordinating positions, exchanging information, and preparing for appearances in New York—but all outside official procedures and constitutional authority.

"That is not, and cannot be, the foreign policy of BiH—it is a private, politically motivated agenda of one man. Such an approach is irresponsible and deeply harmful," Berjan pointed out.

Ambassador Berjan stressed that BiH's future depends solely on full respect for the legitimate positions of all three constituent peoples and both entities, adding that ignoring this fact only leads to further erosion of trust and weakening of institutions.

"Unfortunately, this behavior is not an isolated case. We have long witnessed a pattern where certain political actors in BiH operate according to the principle: `Listen to what the foreigner says, not what the institutions say.` Such an attitude is not only degrading for BiH itself, but directly undermines its constitutional order and blocks the development of internal trust—an essential prerequisite for any serious progress," Berjan assessed.

BiH's Ambassador to the UN Zlatko Lagumdžija entered the OHR building in Sarajevo early this morning. Given that the UN Security Council session on the situation in BiH will be held on October 31, it is clear that he came for consultations with his superior and main patron, Christian Schmidt.
