SARAJEVO, JULY 17 /SRNA/ – Radovan Kovačević, delegate of the Serb Caucus in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, stated that some likely benefit from the fact that Christian Schmidt has now revealed himself as someone openly acting against Republika Srpska and the Serb people - and that the more of Schmidt there is, the less there is of BiH, but not of Srpska.
"The more Schmidt there is, the more uncertain BiH's future becomes; the more Schmidt there is, the clearer it becomes that BiH has no sovereignty and is not a real state - just an illusion for those who want to believe it is one. Republika Srpska knows its path, and it knows it will not be part of such an illusion of a state," Kovačević emphasized.
According to him, the delegates in the House of Peoples pretend to make decisions, although the BiH Constitution has designated this chamber as one of the two decision-making bodies of the Parliamentary Assembly.
"And yet we all accept that there is a foreigner who, outside of the Constitution, imposes decisions that determine the fate of people in BiH," Kovačević said at the start of today's resumed session of the House of Peoples, which had been interrupted in April.
Kovačević said that, instead of questioning the Collegium about the removal of certain agenda items, delegates should be directing those questions to Christian Schmidt.
He asked whether there exists consensus and genuine will among delegates to take responsibility for BiH into their own hands, to have decisions about the lives of Serbs, Croats, and Bosniaks made by their elected representatives, or whether such decisions should continue to be made by foreigners with no connection to BiH.
"If you believe that is the right path, then go ahead, but I can assure you that on such a path, we will part ways, and Republika Srpska will most certainly go its own way," Kovačević concluded.
