SARAJEVO, APRIL 24 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, said that during today's interview with The New York Times journalist Andrew Higgins, he had the opportunity to present to the American public the initiative of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik to abolish all customs duties on goods originating from the United States.
Košarac says this would be a good basis for starting negotiations with the U.S. administration on signing a free trade agreement, which is also an initiative of President Dodik.
"I emphasized that, based on President Dodik's initiative, we proposed to the Council of Ministers the adoption of a decision on the temporary suspension of customs duties on goods originating from the United States," Košarac emphasized.
Košarac added that the interview also touched on current global issues and the political situation in BiH.
"Since The New York Times recently reported on how President Dodik celebrated Trump's victory in Banja Luka, I took the opportunity to present Higgins with a symbolic gift – a photograph of President Dodik wearing the recognizable MAGA hat, which was taken during the celebration in front of the Palace of the Republic," Košarac wrote on Instagram.
