SARAJEVO, APRIL 9 /SRNA/ - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac said that the abolition of customs duties on goods from the United States would benefit the real sector of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, and that he did not expect the Minister of Transport and Communications Edin Forto to understand the global political momentum and the importance of this initiative.

Košarac emphasized that Republika Srpska, through the proposal to abolish customs duties on goods from the U.S., is once again proving that it cares about its entrepreneurs and is seeking models to enhance economic activity, which is also desired for the economy of the Federation of BiH.

According to him, it would be beneficial for Forto and his team to understand the goal of the proposed initiative, which is the signing of a free trade agreement with the U.S.

"Unfortunately, Forto and the current team in Sarajevo do not understand the needs of the real sector, nor do they have a sense of it. Entrepreneurs in the Federation of BiH are hostages of such policies," Košarac wrote on Instagram.

He also pointed out that, unlike Forto and the rest of the Bosniak structure, the SNSD has a clearly defined, consistent, and responsible policy, and that they do not feel the need to pander to the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

"We supported Trump and his policies even before he was elected President of the U.S. On the other hand, Forto and his group supported /Joseph/ Biden, and after the U.S. elections, they are trying to pander to Trump. Typical converts," Košarac said.

Košarac, who is also the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, emphasized that it would be much better for Forto to focus on issues that, as he says, are at his level.

"For example, measures such as disinfection, pest control, and rodent extermination to prevent a cockroach invasion in Sarajevo," Košarac concluded.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers prepared a decision yesterday on the temporary suspension of customs duties on goods imported from the U.S.

Košarac said that the decision was made at the initiative of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, at the request of the Serbian member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović and based on the conclusion of the Republika Srpska Government.
