BANJA LUKA, MAY 31 /SRNA/ – Law professor Ljubinko Mitrović stated that the fact that Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, Elmedin Konaković, knows that a case is being formed against him for lobbying shows that in BiH – a country of absurdity – nothing is surprising, and that no serious investigation in any significant case is conducted without external interference.
Commenting on Konaković’s statement that “the chief prosecutor of the unconstitutional Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, Milanko Kajganić, is ordering the opening of a case” against him for lobbying, stating the information is “accurate and verified,” Mitrović said it is well-known that various factors interfere in serious investigations.
“What is abnormal elsewhere in the world is normal here, and vice versa. It has long been known that no serious investigation into any major case can or is conducted without the influence and interference of various factors – including foreigners and politicians,” Mitrović said in a statement to SRNA.
For the sake of truth, Mitrović added, a certain number of prosecutors in the unconstitutional Prosecutor’s Office of BiH do try and want to be independent, which is one of the basic principles, but the question is how successful they are in that.
Mitrović emphasized that in this case, opening an investigation against Konaković – or anyone else who violates procedures and reaches into the “state’s pocket” – is entirely normal, legally founded, and logical.
“By their second year, law students in criminal law courses can find an adequate legal basis for such conduct. Konaković is certainly aware of that himself. It would be interesting to hear from him why he did it,” Mitrović stressed.
No one, Mitrović added, is preventing Konaković from using his own salary or savings to pay for lobbying services, but everywhere in the world, it is punishable to pay for lobbying with state funds without anyone else’s consent and without following proper procedures.
