BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 1 /SRNA/ - Mass protests announced by Foreign Minister in the Council of Ministers Elmedin Konaković, should the courts fail to act in line with his expectations and convict Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, would pose a security threat, Slobodan Župljanin, the Dean of the Faculty of Security and Protection in Banja Luka, told SRNA.
Župljanin emphasized that this is an attempt by Konaković to divert attention from his problems.
"The ideas and initiatives coming from Konaković lack both political and moral credibility, as well as capacity. This is a blatant violation of the principle of judicial independence and an attempt to exert pressure. He is doing this with one motive, to divert attention from the problems he is facing, including his ties to a drug cartel," Župljanin said.
He added that Konaković is trying to shift the focus elsewhere, but that he is unable to organize or gather a large number of people.
"If such rallies were to take place, they would jeopardize security, as it is certain and logical that counter-protests would also be organized, which would inevitably further complicate relations," Župljanin said.
