BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 2 /SRNA/ – The confirmation of the first-instance judgment against the president of Republika Srpska marks the end of the Dayton-based BiH, which no longer functions constitutionally, Constitutional Law Professor Siniša Karan told SRNA.

"What we’ve been witnessing for years, and what has culminated today, is a violent confrontation with Republika Srpska, its institutions, and the Serb people. The principles of the Constitution, the rule of law, and legal statehood based on democratic elections no longer exist.

BiH is now a territory controlled by a private individual – a false High Representative, who presents his arbitrariness as justice. Christian Schmidt has officially hammered the final nail into the coffin of what was once BiH and confirmed what we’ve been saying for years – the Dayton is a dead letter for those who want a unitary state tailored to the Bosniak people," Karan emphasized.

He stated that the Court of BiH and Schmidt, who have neither integrity nor accountability to the citizens, are attempting to overthrow the legitimate will of the Serb people.

"We are telling them clearly: the people elect – the people recall. No one else! The Serb people have an obligation to protect their national and political identity. Their electoral will is named Milorad Dodik. By defending his legitimacy, we are defending our freedom, our Republic, and honouring all those who built Srpska on their sacrifice," said Professor Karan.

He affirmed that Republika Srpska will not allow the annulment of its people's electoral will nor the destruction of its institutions.

"Republika Srpska is ready to fight – institutionally, politically, and democratically. History will record this as the moment when an unelected and uninvited foreigner destroyed BiH and, in doing so, strengthened the status and determination of Republika Srpska," emphasized Karan, who also serves as Minister of Internal Affairs of Srpska.

Minister Karan concluded that this is the greatest crisis facing Dayton and the Constitution: "Our struggle is institutional, democratic, and political. The Ministry of Interior guarantees security for all citizens because peace has no alternative. Republika Srpska was created in peace and endures in peace. Its institutions are founded on the democratic capacity of the people’s will, and the people are the key holders of sovereignty and a reflection of Srpska’s independence within federal BiH," Minister Karan concluded.
