KARAN: NOVEMBER 25 MARKING IS MISUSE OF HISTORICAL DATE AND NEGATION OF DAYTON FRAMEWORK

BANJA LUKA, NOVEMBER 25 /SRNA/ – Constitutional law professor Siniša Karan believes that the celebration of November 25 is abuse of a historical date aimed at undermining the Dayton Agreement.

Karan emphasized that political Sarajevo, by marking this day, directly negates the Dayton Agreement, disregarding BiH's internal federal structure, the equality of its peoples, and the position of Republika Srpska.

"Due to the actions of the Bosniak political elite, BiH has been in a three-decade constitutional and political chaos, as they persistently attempt to create an artificial continuity that does not exist. SR BiH dissolved, and a new Dayton BiH was created, comprising Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH, and the three constituent peoples," Karan stated on the social network X.

According to him, the issue is not merely one of continuity, but a process aimed at establishing a unitary and civic BiH where only the majority people make decisions.

In this way, as he stated, they attempt to negate the rights of the Serb people and turn a constituent nation into a minority.

"Dayton BiH is a new federal state in which all three peoples and the two entities are equal. In the imagined unitary state that celebrates November 25, the peoples are not equal and there are no entities," Karan stressed.

Karan added that a civic state automatically reduces the Serb people to minority status.

"One of the methods used to achieve this is the celebration of November 25," Karan said.

The former ZAVNOBiH Day, November 25, is marked as a so-called statehood day in the Bosniak-majority areas of the Federation of BiH, while Croats do not observe it as a holiday.
