GOGANOVIĆ: WE EXPECT TWINNING AND STRONGER COOPERATION OF CITIES IN SRPSKA AND AMERICA

MARYLAND, APRIL 24 /SRNA/ - Deputy Minister of Defence in the Council of Ministers Aleksandar Goganović said that he will use his visit to the US state of Maryland to strengthen civil cooperation, and announced that one of the focuses of future cooperation will be connecting local communities from Republika Srpska, as well as all of BiH, with local communities in the USA.

"It is certain that one of the priorities will be the twinning of the city of Doboj with a certain local community in Maryland," Goganović emphasized for SRNA and added that he had already held certain talks on that topic.

He expressed his belief that, with the support of the Mayor of Doboj Boris Jerinić and the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, twinning of Doboj with one of the local communities in Maryland, but also with other cities throughout the USA, would be done.

Goganović announced that in the coming period, he would also be working on connecting universities in Banja Luka and East Sarajevo, primarily the Faculty of Medicine with universities in Maryland.

"Also, I will be working on connecting the University Clinical Centre Banja Luka with the health centre in Maryland in order to develop our cooperation in the field of medicine as well," Goganović said.

In a statement to SRNA, Goganović pointed out that the federal state of Maryland is a partner state of BiH with years-ling successful cooperation.

"One of the topics was how to improve our military-bilateral cooperation, as well as the cooperation of the BiH Armed Forces with the Maryland National Guard," said Goganović, who visited the Maryland National Guard with Deputy Minister Slaven Galić as part of the delegation of the Ministry of Defence in the Council of Ministers.

A delegation from the Ministry of Defence visited the Maryland National Guard with the aim of strengthening defence cooperation and exchanging experiences in the field of security and military policies.

Past and future cooperation, including training, capacity to respond to crisis situations, and strengthening interoperability of the Armed Forces of BiH and the United States were discussed at the meeting.
