GOGANOVIĆ: SRPSKA'S POSITION CLEAR - COOPERATION WITH NATO-YES, MEMBERSHIP-NO

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, NOVEMBER 2 /SRNA/ – Deputy Minister of Defence in the Council of Ministers and Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Cooperation with NATO, Aleksandar Goganović, told SRNA that Republika Srpska remains committed to the policy advocated by SNSD leader Milorad Dodik – cooperation with NATO-yes, membership-no.

“The Serb people’s position is based on historical experience, as well as the clearly expressed political will of Republika Srpska,” Goganović stressed.

He recalled that the Republika Srpska National Assembly adopted a Resolution on Military Neutrality in 2017, while in 2021 the Council of Ministers renamed the Commission for NATO Integration Process as the Commission for Cooperation with NATO.

“All documents adopted so far relate to cooperation with NATO and do not prejudge a decision on membership. I recently reiterated this position clearly at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, where I stressed that there is consensus in BiH on cooperation, not on membership, and that the clearly expressed political will of Republika Srpska must be respected,” Goganović said.

He concluded that Republika Srpska remains committed to peace, stability and partnership relations, with full respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement and due consideration for Republika Srpska’s positions.
