GOGANOVIĆ: SHORTFALL OF 226,000 LITRES OF DIESEL FUEL AT MILITARY DEPOT SERIOUS SCANDAL

SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 28 /SRNA/ – Deputy Defence Minister in the Council of Ministers Aleksandar Goganović told SRNA that the shortfall of 226,000 litres of diesel fuel at the Stojkovići military depot near Novi Travnik is a serious scandal within the defence system that must not go without an institutional response.

Goganović stated that the information about the missing diesel fuel was contained in an official document issued by the BiH Armed Forces and by a commission established to investigate the matter. However, he referred all further questions to Defence Minister Zukan Helez.

"Helez has repeatedly stressed that deputy ministers have no say in anything and make no decisions. If that is the case, then it is clear where responsibility should be sought," Goganović said.

He called on the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and other competent institutions to urgently establish all the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the diesel fuel, determine criminal liability and identify those responsible.

Goganović said that over the past four years, the Ministry had focused on day-to-day political issues rather than addressing serious problems within the defence system.
