GOGANOVIĆ: REPUBLIKA SRPSKA AND RUSSIA GUARANTORS OF EUFOR MISSION EXTENSION IN BiH

SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 7 /SRNA/ – Deputy Defence Minister in the Council of Ministers Aleksandar Goganović met today in Sarajevo with the EUFOR Commander, Major General Florin-Marian Barbu, to discuss the current security situation and the role of international missions in BiH.

It was assessed during the meeting that the security situation in BiH is stable, and that potential political crises in the country do not pose a security threat.

Goganović emphasized the importance of EUFOR's presence in maintaining peace, stability, and security, noting that the fact of mission's impartiality and adherence strictly to its UN Security Council mandate is particularly crucial.

Major General Barbu pointed out that EUFOR is closely monitoring the situation in BiH, stressing that the mission will continue to provide strong and impartial support to the preservation of peace, stability, and security within its mandate.

Goganović underlined to SRNA that Republika Srpska, together with its strategic partner – the Russian Federation, will act as a guarantor of the EUFOR mission's extension in BiH.

"Russia has already clearly stated that it would support the continuation of the mission, which is the result of the agreement between Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and Russian President Vladimir Putin," Goganović stressed.
