GOGANOVIĆ IN BRUSSELS: SNSD INDISPENSABLE PARTNER, SRPSKA COMMITTED TO COOPERATION WITH ALLIANCE

BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 13 /SRNA/ – Deputy Defence Minister in the Council of Ministers Aleksandar Goganović stated at today's meeting with representatives of NATO member states, held in Brussels, that following the general elections, it is necessary to ease political tensions and create space for dialogue.

"SNSD, headed by Milorad Dodik, achieved a strong electoral result in Republika Srpska, and we expect this political fact to be acknowledged in future discussions. We are aware of the responsibility we bear not only towards Republika Srpska and BiH, but also towards the stability of the entire region," Goganović said during his address at the meeting.

He emphasised that he had reiterated to NATO representatives Republika Srpska's position that peace, stability and security are priorities, as well as its commitment to continuing cooperation with international partners.

"Republika Srpska supports cooperation with the NATO Alliance through existing partnership mechanisms, with full respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement, constitutional competencies and the principle of consensus, without prejudging membership," Goganović stressed.

Speaking about the Individually Tailored Partnership Programme, Goganović gave a positive assessment of the results achieved so far.

"Our goal is correct and mutually beneficial cooperation based on mutual respect and trust," Goganović concluded.
