GOGANOVIĆ ATTENDS HANDOVER CEREMONY OF EUFOR COMMANDER

SARAJEVO, JANUARY 21 /SRNA/ – Deputy Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers Aleksandar Goganović stated that EUFOR continues, in accordance with the mandate granted by the UN Security Council, to contribute to the preservation of peace, stability, and a secure environment in BiH.

Goganović attended a ceremony today at the EUFOR base in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Butmir, where Major General of the Romanian Armed Forces Florin Marian Barbu handed over the position of EUFOR Commander to Major General of the Italian Armed Forces Maurizio Frondi.

“I thanked the outgoing EUFOR commander for his professional and correct cooperation and wished the new commander a successful mandate,” Goganović told SRNA.

He emphasized that EUFOR has remained impartial throughout its operations and has not acted outside the scope of its mandate, which he assessed as important for maintaining trust and stability in BiH.

“Through responsible and prudent actions, Republika Srpska has prevented the political crisis from escalating into a security one, and we will never allow political processes to be misused to the detriment of peace and stability,” Goganović stressed.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the international community and the diplomatic corps.
