BIJELJINA, NOVEMBER 3 /SRNA/ – President Milorad Dodik told Bosniaks that they would never succeed in convincing Serbs to follow their irrational demands for the civic BiH they have envisioned, a concept they themselves do not vote for.
In a telephone statement to SRNA, Dodik pointed out that, in the recent general elections in BiH, Bosniaks voted for the SDA, rather than for Elmedin Konaković and his People and Justice party, or for the SDP and the so-called civic-oriented politicians they often talk about.
He said that Bosniaks keep glorifying a utopia through which they try to portray BiH as they wanted it to be – a unitary state, which is an illusion that will never become reality. He added that this is evident even now, when their alleged civic-oriented political options in BiH has suffered a complete political defeat in the elections, with the victories of the SDA and the Party for BiH.
"This speaks of fact that even the Bosniak people there do not accept their civic nonsense and utopias. Their constant efforts to preserve this narrative and impose it on Serbs and Croats as the best possible solution show just how hypocritical they are, given that even Bosniaks themselves did not vote for civic-oriented options but for what they call national, or nationalist, parties," Dodik said.
They, president Dodik says, would like Serbs and Croats to accept a deception on a civic BiH, after which they themselves would supposedly embrace civic politics.
"They are equally dishonest and manipulative when it comes to the European path, which is supported by Bosniaks in Sarajevo, i.e. Muslims who later became Bosniaks, solely because it allows them to centralise, or make BiH a unitary state," Dodik stressed.
He emphasised that their pro-European policies are a deception that bring nothing but constant empty rhetoric and political bickering over abstract claims about how someone else is unwilling to support BiH or is undermining it.
"They have done everything to bring BiH to the point where it is almost impossible to function; only illusionists are now trying to make something out of it," he added.
Dodik stressed that Bosniaks want to establish political dominance in BiH and that their political approach is almost unanimous..
"Their constant efforts to create a functional BiH according to their own vision, without an agreement with Serbs and Croats and without addressing fundamental issues, such as the representation of Croats in BiH or the Serbs' objection to accepting decisions being introduced into the legal system as laws when they are not, are yet another contribution to the illusion that Muslims who later became Bosniaks are trying to impose on entire BiH," Dodik said.
He noted that even outgoing Croat member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić had acknowledged that the civic concept of BiH had died in the elections.
"But they are not mentioning that now. Instead, they talk as if we do not understand anything, while they understand everything," he added.
He said that Elmedin Konaković is constantly trying to present himself as if he has won the elections rather than lost them.
"His attempts are comical, and he has turned a failed term in office into neighbourhood-style bickering over numerous issues. This says nothing about the extent of his contribution; rather, it shows that he has remained a neighbourhood boy who has never understood any of this. That is why it was easy to use him, through both action and inaction, to achieve certain goals we wanted to accomplish during this period. He has remained stupid," Dodik added.
Dodik pointed out that, when one also considers the fact that SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović personally received fewer votes than his party and is less popular than the SDA, it becomes clear how distorted everything is there and how they are trying to present this distorted situation as supposedly "normal".
"It is an undeniable fact that those so-called civic-oriented politicians in the Federation have lost, and that even the SDA, which has often spoken about a civic BiH, is probably aware of its own illusions. Only a return to the policy of national representation can ensure balance in BiH," he stressed.
Dodik pointed out that Republika Srpska made no distinction between the Serb national interest and the civic rights of Serbs.
"For us, these are one and the same thing, and we have never been in a position where we needed to separate these two concepts. The struggle for the Serb national interest is also a struggle for the civic interests of Serbs. There is no difference between them. We have understood all of this, but they have learned nothing," Dodik concluded.
