SARAJEVO, JUNE 12 /SRNA/ - The defense of Miloš Lukić, acting director of the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska, today requested that the Appeals Chamber of the extra-constitutional Court of BiH uphold the acquittal of their client and reject the motion of the extra-constitutional Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to convict him for “non-compliance with the decisions” of Christian Schmidt.

Lukić’s attorney, Slavko Jandrić, stated that he believes his client signed nothing, as the Prosecutor’s Office failed to provide proof of it.

"Instead, they submitted a recording that SIPA provided at a later time," Jandrić told the Appeals Chamber.

Jandrić stated that his client cannot prevent a law from entering into force.

"This act does not constitute a criminal offense, as the law under which the proceedings were conducted was not adopted in accordance with proper legal procedures. The decision of an unelected foreigner cannot stand above the law," Jandrić emphasized.

He requested that the Appeals Chamber reject the prosecution’s appeal and that the acquittal be upheld.

The prosecution stated before the Appeals Chamber that on July 9, 2023, in his capacity as acting director of the Official Gazette, Lukić signed two decrees that had previously been signed by the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, a matter he later discussed publicly in the media.

Judge Vesna Jesenković stated that the decision would be delivered in writing.
