BELGRADE, MAY 15 /SRNA/ - Political analyst Stevica Deđanski has stated for SRNA that the Republika Srpska National Assembly's decision to accept the Serb member and Chairperson of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović's veto on the controversial Presidency conclusion shows that real power in BiH lies within the entities.
Deđanski believes that the decision, which rejects the BiH Presidency conclusion adopted without the consensus and approval of Cvijanović, also confirms how BiH should function according to the Dayton Peace Agreement.
"Secondly, the vote itself and the number of votes, as well as the support of the majority of the opposition for the parliamentary majority, shows that there is still a prevailing awareness that the entity must be protected among politicians in Republika Srpska," Deđanski emphasized.
He assessed that the majority of the opposition, despite some earlier activities, proved to be more solid than many had expected.
"We should be satisfied that this was adopted and that Republika Srpska is defending its rights with every step it takes, and that politicians such as President Milorad Dodik and Cvijanović are showing they understand their role," Deđanski stated.
He stressed that the job of Dodik and Cvijanović is to defend Republika Srpska and to do everything possible to prevent the international community from rewriting the Dayton Peace Agreement.
"This is the most important thing for the Serb people, and they are sticking to it," said Deđanski.
The National Assembly of Republika Srpska, at a special session last night, confirmed by a two-thirds majority the statement of Serb Member and Chairperson of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović, declaring the BiH Presidency's conclusion, adopted without consensus on May 12, as highly detrimental to the vital interests of Republika Srpska.
