NEW YORK, MAY 7 /SRNA/ - The panic that has gripped Zlatko Lagumdžija and led him to give frantic, pre-written statements following the UN Security Council debate reflects the state of mind within the Bosniak political bloc, the Serb member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović told SRNA.
"Things are changing. Christian Schmidt has sunk, and Zlatko is on edge. Even those who expressed support for the High Representative’s position did not endorse the distorted Bonn powers, but rather his role as defined by the Dayton Agreement," Cvijanović emphasized.
She emphasized that those whom Zlatko and Schmidt relied on the most did not attack Republika Srpska because it is clear to them that Schmidt has created chaos in BiH and brought the country to collapse.
"We in Republika Srpska are not asking for favoritism, but for a fair approach, and that's where we differ from political Sarajevo. The lie they have been building for years is slowly falling apart," Cvijanović told SRNA from New York, expressing satisfaction with yesterday's debate.
"Let's look at the Big Five. Russia and China are fully aware that the problems in BiH are being caused by Schmidt through his illegal interventions, and that his appointment is a bypassing of the Dayton Agreement. The United States supports the Dayton-based role of the High Representative but does not advocate for or defend the so-called `Bonn powers`. That is major progress. They are not labeling anyone as guilty, they are calling for exactly what we in Republika Srpska are advocating," said Cvijanović when asked to comment on yesterday's UN Security Council debate on BiH, at which she also spoke.
She emphasized that the position of the United Kingdom comes as no surprise; they are deeply anti-Serb in their stance and seek to use High Representatives to settle accounts with Republika Srpska; they are promoters of illegal actions by High Representatives who exceed the mandate outlined in the Dayton Agreement and support the Bosniaks in creating a unitary state.
Cvijanović added that, realistically, her only disappointment was the statement made by the representative of France, but, as she said, "we will work on that".
She pointed out that BiH has no future if the current Schmidt, or any future Schmidt, is its supposed guardian.
"The position of the High Representative must be returned to its legal basis, which is Annex 10 of the Dayton Agreement, and steps must be taken toward closing the OHR. The `five plus two agenda` for closing the OHR is not defined by the Dayton Agreement. It was invented by the PIC, which has no legal basis, just like the fabricated and monstrous so-called Bonn powers," Cvijanović said.
She said that decision-making in the country must take place exclusively within its institutions, not in the offices of the OHR.
"Unfortunately, in this struggle for genuine rule of law and true democracy, the EU has excluded itself, even though it could have been the main actor. It must be said that it's not enough to simply return the High Representatives to the framework of the Dayton Agreement; actions that led the country into crisis must also be annulled," Cvijanović said.
