CVIJANOVIĆ: SCHMIDT'S DEPARTURE WELCOME, BUT THAT DOES NOT SOLVE HIS NON-DAYTON ACTIONS IN BiH

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, MAY 29 /SRNA/ - It is good that Christian Schmidt is leaving and that discussions are underway about redefining the mandate of the high representative and limiting its duration, Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović stated in response to SRNA's question about Schmidt's departure from BiH.

"However, that, of course, does not resolve the problem of Schmidt's unilateral, unconstitutional and non-Dayton conduct in BiH, which he turned into judicial proceedings and through which he placed political parties in an unequal position by depriving certain parties of access to public funding. All of this means the problem has not been resolved", Cvijanović stressed.

She pointed out that no law can be part of the legal system of BiH unless it has been adopted by institutions authorized by the Constitution to do so.

"That should be perfectly clear, so no one can expect us to pretend that nothing happened. What happened was legal, political, constitutional and democratic chaos, and it must be resolved through legal, political, constitutional and democratic methods", Cvijanović noted.
