CVIJANOVIĆ: IT’S NOT UP TO HELEZ TO DECIDE HOW BiH SHOULD LOOK LIKE

LOPARE, SEPTEMBER 9 /SRNA/ - Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović said that Zukan Helez was talking nonsense and that it was not up to him, nor anyone else in Sarajevo, to decide what BiH should look like or how people should live in it, but rather that this could only be decided by the three constituent peoples through their elected representatives.

“In BiH and concerning BiH, only those who live here can make decisions, namely Serbs, Croats and Bosniaks through their elected representatives and democratic institutions, not people who talk nonsense like Zukan Helez does,” Cvijanović told reporters.

Commenting on Helez’s call for the international community to withdraw its signature from the creation of Republika Srpska, accompanied by a threat that he would know what to do next in that case, Cvijanović said that it was not up to him to decide whether anyone would withdraw their signature or not, but asked him what he would do next.

“What, would you launch a jihad, is that it? What would you do? Would you throw us into dungeons, put us in chains, arrest us wherever you could, kill us, behead us, bring in mujahideen as they did in the 1990s? That is what Zukan Helez would do,” Cvijanović said.

She reminded that the anniversary of the major terrorist attack in the United States was approaching, adding it would be good for anyone from the security sector, Helez included, to answer the question of how the terrorists who brought down the towers in New York and went on to attack the Pentagon came to possess BiH passports.

“Were these people enjoying some kind of political or institutional support? Instead of issuing threats, it would be good if he answered us: Where did those people get their passports? How did so many mujahideen end up here, and what does he intend to do about it?” Cvijanović asked.

She stressed that it would also be good for Helez to answer where convicted war criminal Sakib Mahmuljin is currently located.

When asked whether Elmedin Konaković’s decision to expel Serbia’s military attaché threatens the appointment of new military attachés from foreign countries to BiH, Cvijanović said that this was something that should be considered.

“If you make such ill-considered moves, then you have to understand that you could cause certain blockages when it comes to the arrival of new military representatives,” she said.

She described Konaković’s conduct as absolutely irresponsible.

“I think some kind of special madness has taken hold of him, and he wanted to show - I don’t know what. But I think that behind all of this lies a deep hatred of Serbia, Republika Srpska and Serbs in general. They don’t need a reason for something like that. They are simply waiting for an opportunity to show their true face,” she concluded.
