ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 21 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, said that the Presidency will not dismiss the Chief of the Joint Staff of the BiH Armed Forces, General Gojko Knežević, as there is no reason to do so.
Commenting on reports by federal portals about General Knežević’s attendance at the military parade in Belgrade after Defense Minister in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez, “cut military cooperation with Serbia," Cvijanović stated that Helez has no authority to cut military cooperation with anyone, especially Serbia.
“Sarajevo would be better off stopping the spread of anti-Serbian hysteria and the undermining of relations within BiH and with neighboring countries. If you don’t respect others, don’t expect anyone to respect you,” Cvijanović wrote on X.
She emphasized that General Knežević has been and remains up to the task, a man who performs his duties professionally and responsibly.
"This is clear. He showed respect for the Serbian national anthem, as befits a professional,” Cvijanović added.
She sent a message to “hot-headed Sarajevo” and Bosniak political circles, saying that the anthem Bože pravde /God of Justice/ is the hymn of every Serb, no matter where they live or what they do.
"This is a matter of identity, and only those who lack their own identity, or who wander trying to find it, lash out at someone else's identity and tradition," Cvijanović emphasized.
Federal portals reported that Helez could request the dismissal of General Knežević, who attended the military parade in Belgrade and saluted during the performance of the Serbian national anthem, but that the BiH Presidency has jurisdiction over the matter.
