ENERHODAR, JUNE 20 /SRNA/ – The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant lost its external power supply today for the 20th time since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, announced the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The IAEA specified that the outage occurred after the failure of the plant’s only available external transmission line, the 330-kilovolt Ferosplavna 1 line, due to problems within the plant’s internal power supply system.
Emergency diesel generators were automatically activated to provide backup power for reactor core cooling systems and other functions essential to nuclear safety.
“This once again highlights the fragile nuclear safety situation at the site,” the agency posted on X.
